Brummie of the Year 2007 – nominations open

Okay then, nominations are now open for the 2007 Brummie of the Year award. Last year Jason Furnell narrowly beat Danny Reddington to the top spot, and the year before Babu wiped the floor with all comers. Just add your suggestions here in the comments to this post and we’ll consider all suggestions. Nominations are open for a month and the vote will start from 1st November. You can nominate anyone, anyone at all, but the idea is that they’d be someone, from Brum, that has done something worthy in the past year. You’re welcome to discuss each others nominations, but keep it civil. And so, in the words of the late Ron Pickering, away you go!

Oddness abounds at the Broad St walk of fame thingy, where people are voting for Cliff Richard on the grounds that: He has played the NIA many times in his career and made it home to the massively successful Pro-Celebrity Tennis tournaments throughout the 90’s Just an opinion, but can’t we wait till we’ve run out of Brummies before we start ‘honouring’ any old leather-necked celebrities, just because they’re guaranteed to turn up at the proverbial opening of an envelope? Hasbro, who I today discover now make Monopoly, are doing a special edition game with cities instead of streets. Money grabbing, marketing tosh you might think, and you’d be right. Here’s the twist tho’, you, we, get to vote for the cities – the top of the pile becoming Mayfair, the 22nd being Old Kent Road. Birmingham is currently 11th, or Pall Mall if you will. You may as well go and vote… ta Marketing Birmingham for the tip off
