As a city with three universities, Birmingham is about to be hit with thousands of new students. The helpful people at Fused have even done a special issue just for them to try to get them up to speed on all things Brum and beyond: Uploaded with plasq‘s Skitch! You can see the whole damn thing online in a nice looking Flash interface that I haven’t got the hang of yet. It might be handy to see what students like these days, in case you need to infiltrate them for any reason.

Ozzy Osboune Tech anyone?

UCE are “in the process” of changing their name, and they want Birmingham in the title as: Research shows that universities that have the name of their location in their title are more easily recognised and remembered by potential applicants, increasing their ability to recruit able and committed students. Wikipedia (so caveats apply) says that it will either be “Birmingham City University, Birmingham Chamberlain University or Birmingham Metropolitan University.”. My money is on Chamberlain, as Birmingham City University sounds like it’s a football academy, and Metropolitan sounds too Manchester. But, before they decide can you think of a better name? Birmingham Frank Skinner University sounds good to me – and he is an alumnus.
