Good round up of the current state of play about the long awaited re-opening of this line, and details of the recent public meeting. It boils down to this: "It is likely that some projects will be cut and if we do not make the case for the Camp Hill line it is likely that DfT may choose it as one to cut.". Interactive Travel Map

Based on Google Maps, Network West Midlands (who are in overall charge of buses trains and the metro) have done a great job on this map. Not only can you zoom right down into individual bus-stops – but you can see the timetable when you do, and even plan routes. Good work.

Tons of old Brum photos By D J Norton

"D J Norton – Dennis John Norton – was my father. Born in Birmingham in 1930, he suffered ill health throughout his life. He died from an asthma attack at the age of 35 in Ledbury, Herefordshire where my family had moved hoping that a country location may help alleviate the symptoms of his illness… We have several hundred black and white photo's from the 1950's and 1960's that he took and developed himself. We also have several hundred full colour slides, also from the 1950's and 1960's… The ones that captured my imagination were of Birmingham prior to and during the development of the inner ring road."

Coach station finally to get refurb

Digbeth coach station is closing on Monday 12 November, and all coaches will arrive and depart from a temporary site “Birmingham Central Coach Station” – the former Audi car showroom over the road. Blimey, we’d almost have something approaching a public transport system

If all of these plans get the go-ahead: …opening the Sutton Park line to passenger trains and members believe opening new stations in Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Castle Vale and Castle Bromwich. The Sutton Park line would involve developing stations at the park, along with Streetly and Aldridge, as part of a new service from Birmingham New Street to Walsall… Calls have also been made to construct a station in Sparkbrook as part of the proposals to reopen the Camp Hill freight line. This would run from Moor Street to Longbridge, with stations being built at Moseley, Stirchley and Kings Heath. Via
