Is a (unlikely) return for the Birmingham Super Prix a good idea? No says West Midlands Friends of the Earth spokesman Chris Williams “Birmingham City Council are promoting double standards. On some days, the City Council is claiming that it wishes to become a world leader in tackling climate change and being green all round. “Right now, what we are seeing is instead of the City Council trying to wean people off their addiction to the motor car, it is putting effort into glamourising driving more and faster.” Quote from The Stirrer. Not being a fan of motor racing anyway, I don’t really want it back either. Why not a Birmingham Marathon, 26 miles 385 yards ending in front of Brasso the Bull? That said, when we do get a summer, we’ll be able to see the ‘Super Prix’ again – it appears spelled out in flowers all along Bristol Street.
