Back at its HP source?

BBC WM breakfast presenter Phil Upton kept hold of the big HP Sauce sign when the building was demolished (following Heinz’s lies and betrayal). Since then it’s been in the museum’s warehouse — but now Phil is asking where it should go. The options: on display at the old site in Aston, in an exhibition at the refurbed Aston Hall OR somewhere else.. I can’t see the Aston Hall connection (exciting that it’ll be properly re-opened this summer tho’), so it’s the site for me — unless anyone can thing of anywhere better? You can tell Phil what you think by email, or even give him a tweet. Photo by Brett Wilde

Key Hill Cemetery Open Day – see how the dead live

This Saturday 8 September 10am until 4pm Made in Birmingham are hosting an open day at Key Hill Cemetery in the Jewellery Quarter – last resting place of Joseph Chamberlain, and Alfred Bird amongst others. As part of the open day there will be a horse-drawn hearse, tombola, raffle, local history items (whatever they may be), and other attractions. Key Hill Cemetery was designed as a beautiful open space, and has many architecturally interesting features and monuments. It was closed for burials in the early 1980s, and has been largely forgotten since then, apart from campaigners hoping to get it restored to how it was. Parking in Key Hill, which is the tiny road at the side of the cemetery, accessible only from the A41. Other parking in JQ car parks or on meters. For disabled parking ( the only ones allowed to park in the cemetery) phone 07799 040455 or e-mail ladyofkeyhill@googlemail.com. Council web-page here has public transport links and map.
