Absolutely bonkers bloke climbs Selfridges. ta Quirky News for the tip
According to Metroblogging Birmingham, we didn’t like the Bull Ring beach much. I’d have said we we’re positive, but underwhelmed. There’s no denying this skill in this sand sculpture of Ozzy Osbourne tho’ – apparently voted most famous Brummie by Bull Ring shoppers. I can’t help thinking it looks a little Cher on a bad day tho… That sands like Ozzy: From Quirky News
I popped down to the Bull Ring this afternoon, with my flip-flops, windbreak and swingball – we love beaches at B:iNS (see we do). Despite the palm trees wicker parasols, it’s really just a 10m square sandpit – they do have podcast tho but as you need to be a ‘browse bullring’ member I’ve not bothered. It’s not a beach without water really, and ‘wednesday afternoon for grown-ups, with music supplied by galaxy’ doesn’t thrill either. Beach two has a big telly, beach three punch and judy, beach four scantily clad volleyballers. more pics here
The Bull Ring beach opens tomorrow. It’s already looking a bit dark over Bill’s mother’s.
Rhubarb Rhubarb are inviting you into their ‘White Tent’, where Barry Lewis (who based purely on the publicity photograph we’ve decided is the George Melley of photography) is going to take pictures to compile his portrait of Britain. 24th -29th May 2007 – outside St Martin’s Church Brum Blog got there first
Adrian Goldberg, out of The Stirrer, has done a piece for Radio 4′s You and Yours all about the fight betwixt the council and the bullring over the two (count ‘em) fake beaches we’ll be getting in Brum this summer. It seems to have been treated as a bit of light relief from the Radio 4 lot – but raises a fine point about how it’ll look when we get the inevitable downpours (building site anyone?). Good to hear some Brummie voices on the radio, although Rich Batsford’s falsetto Beach Boys cover wasn’t as welcome as his amusing comments – the most disturbing part was hearing Council Leader Mike Whitby using the phrase ‘chill out’ on a couple of occasions. Cool Maaan. You’ll find a ‘Listen Again’ link here soon enough – it’s about 40 mins into the programme.
