Powerbook

Powerbook

Last year‘s Birmingham Post Power Fifty caused a lot of fun in offices around the city. I remember Chas Watkin (Editor of Midlands Today) being referred to as “number 48″ by his newsroom staff for a few days, which is alright unless you’re the second “most powerful” and get people sniggering “number two” behind your back. I went to the launch of this year’s list, where Marc Reeves of the Post admitted that it was designed to “infuriate” and stimulate debate (and one would hope from his point of view stimulate paper sales and website traffic). Post Office Limited’s view (from the Mail article) “Post Office Ltd insists the closures are needed because of falling customer numbers and the increasing use of the internet to access services. For example, it is now possible to buy a television licence online.” (yes, but not post a fucking letter). I’m not sure about falling customer numbers (although I’m sure they have “statistics” to back it up), my local PO in Kings Heath (on the list for closure) almost always has queues out of the door. It is outrageous that the BBC handed TV licensing to Crapita...

Setve McCabe (MP for Hall Green)’s website doesn’t look half bad apart from this copy and paste balls up spotted by new folder on flickr (nice google maps). And or those that lol, there’s also a wealth of lolDeirdrie style pics.
