Stirchley Community Market Song

Newton Chambers is "a part-time musician and full-time human." He has written "a rather nice little song all about the increasingly wonderful Stirchley Community Market." "Creatively, the important things to know are that: 1) all instruments featured on the track are from Stirchley and 2) the word “cauliflower” features heavily in the lyrics." It also features the word "nan", which is nice, and has a sort of New Vaudeville Band vibe… it's a charity single to raise funds for—I think—a gazebo. So buy before you try.

Support our markets: Sign the petition to save Birmingham’s Bull Ring Markets

The Mail host a petition to prevent closure of the wholesale markets: "And if the wholesale markets go down, stallholders on the remaining markets would be left with crippling bills to travel and pick up their fresh produce in other cities, they say. Traders fear that would kill off their businesses and they are adamant that city council assurances over the future are hollow."

Setting up a Blues Supporters’ Trust – A Way For Fans To Effect Change

Call for interest for people to help set up a Supporters' Trust for the Blues over on Often Partisan. These are: "an organisation built by fans on democratic principles to give themselves a legitimate voice in the running of their club. Birmingham City have in the last twelve months been active in helping the supporters clubs grow and become an active part of the club itself, but an umbrella organisation is needed so that when times are hard, there is a focal point for people to rally behind. It also can do things like buy shares in a football club – which then give fans a real say in how it is run; get fans appointed to board room level to ensure that the club doesn’t lose touch with it’s fanbase, and most importantly give a united voice which can influence media reporting on the fans."

STOP and Play! — Outdoor Ping Pong in Brum

Not quite sure how well outdoor table tennis will work, or where all these spare exclamation marks are being shipped in form, but this is fairly cool: "Ping! England will be hitting Birmingham with bats and balls between 8th July and 8th August! Fancy challenging a handson stranger to a game of ping pong? OR beating your boss at a game? You have 4 weeks and 55 ping pong tables to make this happen! Ping pong tables will pop up all over the city, from Moor Street Station to The Arcadian, and from Chamberlain Square to under the Spagetti Junction. ‘STOP and PLAY!’ The notice will say Free for all! (just borrow a bat and ball!)"
