Flatpack news :: four-day film marathon

We shall be skipping the street parties this weekend and
spending the next four days in dark, confined spaces.
Do join us!

CINEMATHEQUE DE TANGER
2-3 June, 12-5pm on Ikon Slow Boat, Brindleyplace
(Moored near Handmade Burger co.)

To complement the Yto Barrada exhibition running at Ikon
until July, we’re back on their floating cinema to screen
a selection of childrens films and world cinema. Saturday is
the family day and features various animated shorts including
Lotte Reiniger fairytale films. Mirror Mirror will also be running
free magic lantern workshops in the main gallery. Then
Sunday has an ‘Underworld’ theme including a Moroccan
documentary and a talk on Moseley-born thief Paul Lund,
who fled to Tangier and lived with William Burroughs.

(We return to the Slow Boat on Sunday 10th for a live Dream
Machine demo and a screening from the Arab Film Festival
in Liverpool)

BIRMINGHAM BOOK BASH
4-5 June, 11am-5pm at Aston Hall, Birmingham
The Colour Box film tent returns to Aston Hall as part of
this annual kidlit celebration, and this time along with
our customary selection of animated delights we’re very
happy to welcome special guest Neil Brand, playing
live piano to a selection of silent slapstick films. That’s
on Monday, then on Tuesday we’ve got slinky French
feature A Cat in Paris. All for free, and there’s loads of
other workshops and events throughout the day.

fever dream Valerie and her Week of Wonders.
