One of the most ill conceived bits of road layout ever finally removed – see it on Google Street View it meant that you had to look both ways at a very busy traffic island, and caused all sorts of mayhem. [link]

    Perhaps it did cause some mayhem, and drivers to have to actually consider what they were doing.. but shouldn’t we be encouraging people to use public transport? and making bus journeys easier for this precise reason!

    It’s only for about a hundred yards so didn’t speed up bus journeys. I don’trnknow if you’ve ever tried to look in two directions simultaneously, but it’srnnot easy u2014 incredibly dangerous in fact.

    know if you've ever tried to look in two directions simultaneously, but it's
    not easy — incredibly dangerous in fact.
