The new More Canals Than Venice art blog, went pigeon racing at the weekend. It’s part of a residency by artists Alex Lockett and Ian England at The Rea Garden (Floodgate St, Digbeth) where they’re looking after pigeons — and getting them involved in art. There’s a fair amount of intereting stuff, and once you get past words like “centred around collaboration with constituencies on the edge of society” — it’s really very accessible.

The loft is open every Sunday from 11-3pm until September. Over the next few months there will also be a range of pigeon themed events. The pigeons even have their own flickr account.
