Apparently there is a theory in planning circles that cities need a reservoir of empty property to encourage businesses to move into an area. Personally, I think that a successful area is one that’s about 95-100% let. Too many areas of Birmingham look like they’re dying on their feet due to the amount of vacant retail and office space.
Most of those signs in the image are either where a business has just shut up shop, offices that have recently been developed, or old one which are no longer fit for purpose and are to be redeveloped soon anyway.
Brum needs more grade A offices.
