Anything has to be better than the monstrosity currently in place. They should widen New Street itself. It's so crowded you can't move left or right.Utterly ridiculous for a shopping street. Most of Birmingham needs demolition . I'm happy it's starting to wake up . It had better. Manchester, Liverpool (which has grand plans)and the North East are ahead of the game. Having said that, the Selfridges building is one of the best in the whole country.

Selfridges is already filthy, particularly the bridge to the car park. I don't mind this design at all, I do think it's a lot of money for a cosmetic upgrade tho'.

I generally like the gradual replacement of concrete Birmingham with more fashionable buildings. I'm just a bit concerned that the new buildings won't get washed. 30 years of Moor Street and Bullring traffic will make the Selfridges building look a bit tatty and I can see the same happening to this place as well if its not cleaned regularly.

Also, anyone ever been there when the screens inside go bad and show a 'Windows' home screen? Imagine if that happens on the massive screen at the front. Red faces all round.
