BiNS iPhone icon

BiNS iPhone icon, originally uploaded by bounder.

As soon as I found out you could add a custom iPhone icon to a website it was inevitable that I’d do a BiNS one. Immediately. And then blog about it. Seriously it was all of five minutes ago I found out.

Those with iPhones (or touches), save BiNS as a Home screen bookmark – and Brasso the Bull will appear there for you too.

(If you want to make one for your own site have a look here.)

  • Never had any contact with whoever owns Brasso - I guess that it's the evil overlords that don't allow photography in the Bull Ring.

Buildings I know there's no intellectual property rights attached to photos of them, with a statue there's the artist's copyright. I'd say that 'public art' was fair game.

I'm still keeping my head down tho' - mind you if they sued me for all the money I'd made out of BiNS they'd owe me money ;)

That's clever. I've put one on my imaginary iPhone.

While we're on the topic of icons, have you come across any hoo-ha from the bull's "owners" about use of likeness? I think it's only a matter of time before the corporation decides that someone has overstepped the mark* and attempts to reclaim the representations for its own purposes.

*Someone will make a stuffed toy version that speaks when you pull a cord, or someone will adorn an image with a hot heap of manure.

BiNS is mostly by Jon Bounds, a Birmingham based social web consultant, producer and writer. You can hire him to work on your stuff, or follow him on twitter. There's also the odd bit of stuff from Danny Smith.

Feel free to send us anything you're interested in - or think we might be.
If you've got gigs to promote, best to chuck them on the talk board.
