You wait fifty odd years

And then you can watch blurry unsaturated footage of some buses on You Tube. Been scratching my head as to where the main vantage point for this was, but I can’t quite place it (some might be filmed from opposite where the Square Peg is now, maybe?).

This clip was filmed in two locations; the first was Broad Street before the development of 5 ways roundabout. The camera is at the junction of Broad Street and Bishopsgate Street. The city centre is to the right and Hagley Road and Calthorpe Road to the left. Towards the end the Broad Street footage you can see a clock in the middle of the road, branch right for Hagley Road and left for Calthorpe Road. The second location is Suffolk Street Queensway. The camera is looking down from what is now Paradise Circus towards Holloway Head roundabout. The bus coming towards the camera and turning right is leaving Suffolk Street Queensway and entering Navigation Street by where the Mail Box now stands.
    Best Regards

  1. Birmingham: It's Not Shit loves Birmingham, its people, arts, animals, buildings, parks, grass verges, factories and bus stops. We've even got a soft spot for the Black Country.

B:iNS runs The Brummie of the Year Award, Talk Like a Brummie Day and organises odd stuff like spending all day on the eleven bus.

BiNS is mostly by Jon Bounds, a Birmingham based social web consultant, producer and writer. You can hire him to work on your stuff, or follow him on twitter. There's also stuff from Danny Smith and Karen Strunks.
