King lack incident

Today is the 30th anniversary of the death of the king of rock and roll and I thought I’d mark the occasion with a run down of Birmingham’s top Elvis impersonators. Armed with the trusty Google search engine I went out to find them – I discovered two things:

There aren’t many Brum based Elvis Tribute Acts, at least with an online presence

Elvis impersonators by rule have really awful websites

The two Elvis impersonators I did find were Adrian Nash (who’s pictured above) and Mark Green (of whom only a BBC vox-pop seems to be on the web).

I’m sure there are many more – in fact I’m sure there was a fella who did well in a GMTV competition who I bumped into once in the Old Railway – do you know of any?

Obliviously Las Vegas is the centre of the Elvis impersonator world - I saw about twenty in between the airport and my hotel.

These lads are Brummies, but not a professional amongst them...

They're all in Tenerife, I think. At least they were (though I can't really say if any were from Birmingham), but my mate and I once ran into no less than FOUR Elvis impersonators, all in the same room at the same function. Three dressed in white, rhinestone encrusted catsuits and one in red! :)

  1. Birmingham: It's Not Shit loves Birmingham, its people, arts, animals, buildings, parks, grass verges, factories and bus stops. We've even got a soft spot for the Black Country.

B:iNS runs The Brummie of the Year Award, Talk Like a Brummie Day and organises odd stuff like spending all day on the eleven bus.

BiNS is mostly by Jon Bounds, a Birmingham based social web consultant, producer and writer. You can hire him to work on your stuff, or follow him on twitter. There's also stuff from Danny Smith and Karen Strunks.

Feel free to send us anything you're interested in - or think we might be.
If you've got gigs to promote, best to chuck them on the talk board.
